According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) at the end of March 2012 the number of employees under labour contract decreased by 27.9 thousands or 1.3% as compared to the end of December 2011 and reached 2.10 million.

Preliminary data of NSI for the Third Quarter of 2011 indicated that the total hourly labour cost rose by 7.2% compared to the Third Quarter of 2010.

4.8% annual inflation up to April

Inflation in April, compared to March is 0.7%, National Statistical Institute data shows. Compared to April in 2008, consumer prices have increased by 4.8%. The inflation registered since the beginning of the current year is 1.3%. For January – April, compared to the same period in 2008, inflation is 5.7%. Compared to the previous month, the most significant increase has been registered in alcohol and cigarettes, where prices have increased by 13.7%.
