According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) at the end of March 2012 the number of employees under labour contract decreased by 27.9 thousands or 1.3% as compared to the end of December 2011 and reached 2.10 million.

Bulgaria is the country with the highest inflation within the borders of the EU in December. Out of the 27 member states, the country is the only one where prices have increased by more than 1 percent, shows Eurostat data. Life in Bulgaria has become 1.1% more expensive, whole most EU members have inflation close to 0.0%, while countries like Denmark, Holland and Finland have even reported deflation.
