According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) at the end of March 2012 the number of employees under labour contract decreased by 27.9 thousands or 1.3% as compared to the end of December 2011 and reached 2.10 million.

Living costs hit record levels

Vast increase in the cost of living in June, shows data from the Institute of Social and Trade-union Researches of KNSB. This rise of living costs during the second three months of the year is the highest for the past eight years. Compared to the first three months, the rise of 0.8% since March, hits record levels, unseen for eight years. Normally, due to the summer season, the figures representative of the cost of living show a decrease in the prices consumer goods. Trade unions expect the actual inflation to reach 7-8%, hence, exceeding the 4.4% inflation planned by the government.
