According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) at the end of March 2012 the number of employees under labour contract decreased by 27.9 thousands or 1.3% as compared to the end of December 2011 and reached 2.10 million.

According to the National Employment Agency, the unemployment in December increased. A total of 342 422 unemployed are registered in the labour bureaus. Compared to December 2010, the level of unemployment is stable. The unemployment in December 2011 was 10.4%, which is 0.4 points higher than November.
